Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 14, 2026

OwnSwing LLC ("OwnSwing," "we," "us," or "our") builds a golf swing-analysis app that helps you understand and improve your golf game. This Privacy Policy explains what information the OwnSwing website and mobile app collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We designed OwnSwing to be local-first: your swing data lives on your device by default and is only sent to our servers when you choose to create an account and sync.

The short version: Your swing data belongs to you. We don't sell it, we don't use it for advertising, and most of it never leaves your phone unless you opt in to an account. You can delete your data at any time.

1. Information we collect

Information you provide

Information created as you use the app

Information collected automatically

Beta testing applications

When you apply for beta testing on our website, we collect your name, email, golfer type, handicap, playing frequency, phone details, testing availability, goals, and agreement to share feedback. We also record signup and application dates, signup source, basic request metadata, and a hashed IP address for abuse prevention. Our team uses this information to review applications, record decisions and internal notes, and contact selected testers. To request removal of your application, email privacy@ownswing.com.

2. How we use your information

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your swing or location data for third-party advertising.

Optional product analytics are used to understand feature reliability and usefulness, evaluate controlled product experiments, and improve onboarding. Consent to product analytics is separate from consent to share anonymized swing measurements for coaching research. Enabling one does not enable the other.

3. How your data is stored and shared

By default, your swing, round, and practice data is stored locally on your device. If you create an account and enable sync, your data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS) and stored on our secure backend so it can be restored and used across your devices.

We share information only with:

4. Data retention and deletion

Local data remains on your device until you delete it or uninstall the app. If you have an account, you can request deletion of your account and associated server-stored data by contacting us at privacy@ownswing.com. You can also clear locally stored data from within the app's settings.

Optional product-analytics events are assigned a retention class when collected: short-lived operational events are scheduled for deletion after 30 days, and product measurement events after no more than 400 days. Turning off “Share Analytics” clears queued events on the device and deletes your stored product-analytics events and experiment assignments from our backend. This does not delete your rounds, trips, account, or other product data.

5. Your choices and rights

6. Children's privacy

OwnSwing is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

7. Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections and hashed credentials. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your data and continually improve our safeguards.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice.

9. Contact us

If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or your data, contact us at privacy@ownswing.com.
